Meet Chef Roro

Odrige “Roro” Garat was born and raised in Haiti. In 1990, after graduating college, he moved to St. Maarten and began training in hospitality at the University of St. Maarten.
Roro then fell in love with culinary and anyone that has tasted his cooking is glad that he did. Nine months later Roro graduated from culinary school and started his first job at the Green House in St. Maarten.
In 1997 Roro moved on to work on a cruise line as a Galley Sous-Chef and was quickly promoted to Executive Chef. When on leave from the cruise ship, Roro began working at The Dunes. When the ship changed ports, he chose to stay at The Dunes and earned the position of Dunes Executive Chef by 2004.
Chef Roro has led his culinary team at The Dunes to win awards on Sanibel for his steaks, seafood dishes and soup. Chef Roro is passionate about food from all over the world and incorporates traditional American and Island cuisine to make this one of the top restaurants in Lee County. |
